Michael is a proud Juru man. His ancestral story summarised below outlines his traditional owner heritage and family line as well as his endearing passion to ensure Indigenous culture continues.
Michaels’ Juru people are gudjuda, being their language name for saltwater people. The gubulla munda, or carpet snake, is their totem, based on their dreaming story, this totem is CBD’s logo and takes the gubulla munda with them wherever they work. Juru people take care of the reefs because they are part of their spiritual dreaming, and their totem represents the hard work done by his old people, elders and emerging leaders providing an easier pathway for the next generation.
